Father son kayaking adventure on Puhoi river

Puhoi River Kayaks is a small family business operating from our home, adjacent to the historic Bohemian landing site on the banks of the Puhoi River.

‘Puhoi’ is a Maori name and translates to ‘slow-water’ which refers to the slow gentle tide that ebbs and flows the 8km to Puhoi Village from the sea.

On the 29th June 1863 the first 83 Bohemian pioneers were dropped off at Wenderholm and paddled up this meandering waterway by local Maori.

With diverse bird life and ever changing scenery the Puhoi river paddle is a unique experience we are proud to share with you.

We have a resource consent, and are an authorised ARC Regional Park Tourist Operator permit holder.
